The irresponsible mining of gold and silver and manufacturing of jewelry has long been associated with lasting harm to people and the planet. Wal-Mart is committed to doing what we can to make sure that the jewelry our customers buy from our stores is produced by responsible businesses that play a positive role in protecting the environment and contribute to the communities where they work.

Love, Earth® jewelry is Wal-Mart’s Stores first completely traceable fine jewelry line which gives customers the ability to trace the path of their Love, Earth® jewelry from mine to store by simply going online.

The Love, Earth® brand is our first step in having all of the gold, silver and diamonds used in the jewelry sold at Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Club locations come from mines and manufacturers that meet Wal-Mart’s standards and criteria for responsible sourcing. These criteria address environmental and human rights as well as community issues and working conditions.

We believe Wal-Mart can play a role to catalyze positive change in the way jewelry is produced. Love, Earth® is the beginning of a journey towards a more responsible jewelry industry. We will continue to work with business and civil society leaders to demonstrate that the mining and manufacturing industries can have a net positive effect on the environment and on the communities they touch and over time build accountability into our supply chain.

From Mine to Market

Thanks to a groundbreaking partnership between Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; their supply chain partners Aurafin , a division of Richline Group , Rio Tinto , Newmont Mining Corporation , Conservation International, Inter Gold, and Historic Futures Limited , the precious metals found in every piece of the Love, Earth® jewelry collection can be traced from the mine it came from through the manufacturing process and finally to Wal-Mart.
